Job Purpose: Under general
supervision, following established policies, procedures, and professional
guidelines, delivers nursing care to patients in the surgical environment.
Plans and implements nursing care; documents nursing assessments; identifies
and reports situations requiring further intervention; formulates and
communicates goal-directed plan of care; assures patient rights. Responsible
for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of
Hill Country Memorial Hospital.the OR Circulator practices as the patients nurse and collaborates with
the team to facilitate the coordination of safe, efficient patient care during
the surgical experience.Leads a team of multi-skilled patient care providers in the delivery of
preferred outcome oriented, safe, therapeutic and cost effective care. The
OR Circulator has a unique position that focuses on an individual patient
during their procedure, allowing for optimal and efficient patient centered
care.Identifies patient needs based on professional knowledge and medical
plan of care. Establishes individualized outcome measures for each patient's
care.Delegates interventions based on critical thinking skills and a
knowledge of the competencies of each team member.Coordinates care to maximize desirable outcomes, patient satisfaction,
and cost effective utilization of available personnel and resources.Through utilization of the nursing process, the clinical nurse diagnoses
and treats patient and family responses to actual or potential health problems.
The OR nurse is accountable to the patient, family, peers, and leadership team.Ensures
and manages that appropriate nursing care is delivered by utilizing the nursing
process and according to accepted standards of the operating room.Monitors,
positions and assists patient during procedure.Addresses
the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical
environment.Communicates
with surgeon and anesthesiologist continuously and as needed about patient
condition.Assesses
operating room for equipment functioning and readiness, obtains supplies for
individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of surgical operating team
are met.
