Under
the guidance of the supervisor of nuclear medicine, will perform a full range
of nuclear scans. Coordinate and participate in a variety of technical
tasks, tests and determinations involving the utilization of radioactive
materials and measurement instrumentation as well as Participates in
technical duties directly involved with the CT scanner including developing,
initiating, and monitoring procedures for the effective utilization of this
unit.
Complies
with ALL department and hospital policies and procedures.
Perform
quality control procedures on equipment and images, works with Chief
Technologist on scheduling of any service and or preventative maintenance
needed or required.
Coordinate and participate in a variety of technical
procedures to include in vivo and in vitro studies; operate radiation
detection and measurement instrumentation including stationary imaging
devices, scintillation gamma and apparatus for in vitro counting.
Calibrate radiopharmaceutical materials for
administration to patients. Calibrate instruments and review calibration data
to detect trends indicating instrument malfunction. Calculate data to include
results of patient studies and radioactive decay. Evaluate recorded images
for technical quality.
Process computerized image data to include function
curves and reconstructed images.
Perform Nuclear Cardiology studies including image
acquisition and processing and monitoring patient vital signs.
Performs EKG prep, tracing and monitors for obvious
change during cardiac studies.
Assume care for physical and psychological needs of patient
of all ages during an examination, initiates life support measures for
patient, if necessary.
Responsible
for working with Chief Technologist of Radiology to operate the Nuclear
Medicine section of Radiology as cost effective as possible.
Responsible
for adherence to Hospital Dress code policy maintaining and presenting a
professional appearance at all times
Uses
interpersonal skills effectively to build and maintain cooperative working
relationships within and outside of the Radiology Department.
Performs
multiple Computed Tomography procedures.
Explain
procedures to patient before beginning.
Maintains patient confidentiality according to HIPPA guidelines.
Perform
quality control procedures on equipment and images, works with Radiology
Director and or Assistant Director and Chief Technologist on scheduling of
any service and or preventative maintenance needed or required.
Ensure adequate supplies on hand to perform any exams
and invasive procedures.
Perform
complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners and
related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety
procedures. Position patients for CT scans using immobilization and
protective equipment as necessary. Perform complex specialized tasks
associated with the operation of CT scanners and related equipment in
accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. Position patients

Assist radiologist with interventional CT procedures.
Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in
sequence of exposure and appropriately label.
Maintain
accurate patient records.
