Job Qualifications:Graduation from an accredited nursing program and a minimum of six months job-related experience required. Rhode Island License is required. Must have CPR, NRP and other credentials/certifications necessary to be competent as an L&D RN.Responsibilities    Provides direct patient care, including examination and treatment under an   approved protocol.  Evaluates outcomes and adjust nursing care processes as     needed to ensure optimal patient care.     Utilizes the nursing process to implement goal-directed nursing care for obstetrical patients.   Monitors medical condition of assigned patients at all times and report to Physician, Nurse Manager or Nursing Supervisor any patient care problems, changes in condition or unexpected occurrences.   Functions well in emergency situations according to policies and procedures. Educates patients/family regarding condition, treatment, discharge/transfer planning and follow up examinations if needed. Seeks feedback from patients/family to evaluate understanding and document.   Facilitates a team approach to the patient plan of care, incorporating all disciplines involved.   Communicates with physicians and other departments to consult on patient status and to ensure continuity of care.   Maintains patients medical records in an orderly manner and document all care provided and significant information, legibly, accurately and completely.   Provides clinical leadership for other staff members and participate in the orientation of new personnel.   Develops, maintains and enhances necessary skills to work with obstetrical patients.   Assumes responsibility for own professional development, setting goals and striving to achieve them through available resources, such as attending seminars, in-services and/or reading journals.   Performs all other related duties as assigned. 5 8 hour shifts 11p-7:30am
