This position is for the Crisis
Response Center. This an emergency setting for behavioral health. It is fast
paced and can be very busy. The ideal RN candidate should possess behavioral
health experience for at least 2 years. We require a minimum of an
Associates degree, but prefer a Bachelors degree. A psych certification is not
required but it is always a plus if the candidate has one as this tells us
behavioral health is their specialty. An RN who has both medical and psych
experience is also a great candidate for us. This environment can be loud and
intimidating for candidates that do not possess psych experience or are not
comfortable with patients who are in need of psychiatric crisis intervention.
Our patient population is mostly from the inner city and present with various
psych needs. Some of these patients can be verbally or physically aggressive. I
would compare it to working in the prison system. I need the candidates as soon as
possibly available as Im down 3 nurses on the night shift. The RN would be 1
of 3 RNs on the unit and would always have support from the other RNs present
as well as doctors and techs. PA License in Hand RequiredAHA BLS Required
