A Medical Technologist performs laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols which require the broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision. Procedures are performed in the hematology, Immunohematalogy, immunology, urinalysis, chemistry and microbiology areas, including collection of specimens where required. Electro-cardiograms are also performed.
A Medical Laboratory
Technician performs laboratory procedures according to established and
approved protocols, which require the limited exercise of independent judgment
and interpretation. Procedures are performed in the hematology,
Immunohematalogy, immunology, urinalysis, chemistry, and microbiology areas,
including collection of specimens where required. Electrocardiograms are also
performed. These tests are performed under the supervision of a technologist,
supervisor, or laboratory department director.
