Position Summary: The
Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) employs intellectual, interpersonal and
technical skills to perform basic patient care, under the supervision of the RN
or LVN. The CNA assists with routine, direct bedside care of patients of
various ages. Such duties include, but are not limited to: patient personal
hygiene, data collection and observation, vital signs, I&O, using
equipment, ADLs, re-enforcement of teaching, documentation in the medical
record, recognition of and response to emergency situations, answering call
lights. The CNA reports to the RN or LVN on duty in the unit. Minimum Position Qualifications Required:Education: High school graduation or certified
equivalency preferred but not required. Completion of a nurses aide program or
equivalency required.Knowledge:
Ability to read and interpret written materials such as safety rules, operating
and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to understand oral
and written instructions and speak effectively. Ability to apply basic
arithmetic and algebraic concepts such as proportions, percentages and simple
equations with a high degree of accuracy.Special
Skills/Equipment: Ability to solve practical problems
and deal effectively with concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, verbal, diagram or
schedule format.
Licenses/Certificates:
Current Certified Nurse Assistant certificate required.
Current CPR certification is required.
